Great Book

"Power Boiler Design, Inspection, and Repair" is a book that fulfills what it is considered to do. General information about boiler design (don't exceed the ASME Code, could be better) and some inspections tricks.

A fine compendium of basic ASME boiler details

This text is an excellent overview of the ASME requirements for boiler design and fabrication. There is detailed information on the welding requirements non destructive test requirements and details on the tests themselves. It is useful for a quick but complete introduction to the detailed and dense field of engineering.

Good reference, poorly edited.

I've had this book for two or three years and refer to it occasionally. I usually find what I want. I have some gripes about the way it is written: it is repetitive, mentioning one thing on one page and then again shortly afterwards; it has some totally pointless illustrations (e.g. of three flash-lights, or a line drawing showing "an operator explains starting a boiler to an AI". Also, the section that I am reading today conflates the activities performed in an internal inspection, with what is done in an external inspection. Nevertheless, it is a useful reference book which needed to be checked and edited before it was published.
