Pretty good, but annoying at times

The information in this book is great for helping you determine what to do with your life, and how to achieve your goals. The exercises inside are great, and on the whole the book is very informative, interesting, and well-written.
However, I found some of the frequent "name-dropping" to be a bit annoying. There were times when the mini-stories about his experiences with certain celebrities were entertaining and contributed to the points he was trying to get across. There were other times, however, I felt like I was trudging through the book as he tried to spout off as many celebrity names as possible. Yes, he works with celebrities. Yes, he's made people famous. Some of the tales could have been left out. The book would have been just fine with a few less stories, and Mr Thompson would have come across as a lot less braggy.

Very Motivational - Empowering

I recently saw Larry Thompson on the Dr. Phil show, and heard there about Larry's book SHINE!
I was MOVED up the stairs, dialed in to the internet, got to amazon.com and purchased the book. Then found his website, [...]
When the book arrived I immediately sat down and started. I was riveted. It is a great book, very motivational, empowering.
Larry's words and passion for what he is trying to do to help others, motivated me to do the work pages. It made me think about my life, the things I have done and accomplished. Some of the exercises made a profound impact on me...made me aware of some of the really good things I have accomplished, helped me realize more of who I am.
No matter who you are or what you do in life,you will do yourself a favor by reading SHINE and doing the exercises. You will be better for it.

Realize how to SHINE

During and after reading SHINE by Larry Thompson I felt a wave of hope. It was both comforting and empowering to realize that with determination and by doing the things that are suggested in the book I could accomplish my goals. By reading about people whom I respect and how they attained their stardom - I was inspired. Larry breaks it down into simple categories where you can determine your own strengths or weaknesses and what you need to do to improve. Another aspect of the book that I liked was the author's heartfelt approach. It made me feel like he cared and that his advice was what I needed to hear.
